Our aspiration is to build a global talent identification system, finding young people who have an accurate model of the world, think quantitatively, revise their beliefs when the facts change, and are adept at taking the perspective of others. We do this primarily by sponsoring Fermi Poker tournaments at schools and universities around the world, with hundreds of events planned this year to mark Enrico Fermi’s 125th birthday.

We plan to popularize the game of Fermi Poker around the world. It combines poker mechanics with Fermi estimation, which is the art of decomposing a hard problem into smaller, more answerable parts, a skill Enrico Fermi famously taught his students. But the game does more than that. It is inherently social, rewarding players who excel at taking the perspective of others, and it helps them build a better model of the world. We hope it will inspire a new generation to think the way Fermi did.

A prize established to honour Adolfo Amidei, the mentor who recognised the talent of the thirteen-year-old Enrico Fermi. It is awarded to those who have identified exceptional young people and supported their development through sustained personal effort.
